Woman attacked by mystery man twice in four days

A woman was assaulted twice by the same man in just days in Gloucester. The victim was attacked in Abbeymead, in April, leaving her needing surgery for an injury he inflicted on her eye when he struck her in the face with an unknown object.

The first incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday, April 13, on Pippin Close. A man verbally abused the woman before attempting to hit her.

The victim managed to escape and the suspect, who is not known to her, walked off towards Lobleys Drive before verbally abusing her again when she saw him in Brockworth. Just a few days later a second incident saw the mystery man turn physically violent.

It took place at approximately 10.15am on Tuesday, April 16, on James Grieve Road. The same man approached the victim from behind and assaulted her with an unknown object, striking her face.

He attempted to hit her a second time but she managed to escape. The woman is now awaiting surgery for an eye injury sustained during the second assault.

A spokesperson from Gloucestershire Police said: "He is described as being a white man in his 60s, of a medium height and stocky build, with short grey hair. On both occasions he was wearing a blue top and black jeans and was carrying a rucksack. He spoke with a local accent.

"On the second occasion, he was with a younger man who is described as being white, in his 30s and wearing a hat. His mouth and nose were hidden by a face covering."

Gloucestershire Police has released e-fit of a man they would like to identify in connection with these incidents. Anybody who recognises the man or who has information about the incidents is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary here, quoting incident 41 of 16 April.
