Woman Awoke To Find Dentist Had Removed All Healthy Top Teeth

Most people hate going to the dentist and endure it for the good of their health.

But for one woman, being in That Chair has never been as petrifying.

Retired Army Private Alison Divers went to the dentist, after cracking her front tooth while biting into an apple – and woke up with a bag full of her own teeth dangling over her face.

She was stationed in Germany at the time and underwent an emergency operation, which she thought was to fix a minor problem.

A language issue meant that the dentist removed all her top teeth, in an error that was to have lifelong consequences.

“I was never scared of the dentist but when I went there, the thing that scared me was the language barrier. He was only able to understand a little bit,” Alison told Channel 5’s Botched Up Bodies.

Horrified Alison was living a nightmare, when she came round from the anaesthetic to discover that her entire set of top gnashers had been unnecessarily extracted.

She said: “When I woke up it was like being on a horror picture. He had actually put all my teeth in a plastic bag above my head and I went mad.”

And it gets worse. Because her teeth were healthy, they had not easily come away from the gums, so the dentist had to forcibly cut into her gums to get them out.

Alison added: “I was mortified. I was so young. I was only 25 and he had taken everything.”

She went back to the army’s dentist and was given an ill-fitting denture plate, which ruined her confidence, according to her fiance Mark.

He said: “She won’t do something or she might not do something because of people looking at her.”
