Woman Cut Out of Burning Car in Dramatic Rescue by Virginia Police Officer

A 57-year-old woman rescued from a burning car in Farmville, Virginia, on November 14 is in critical but stable condition, law enforcement officers said.

Dramatic bodycam footage of the rescue shows Officer DP Foley arriving on the scene around 4.20 am and discovering the woman unconscious in the driver’s seat. The rear of the vehicle is consumed by fire.

In the video, Officer Foley quickly cuts the seat belt and drags the woman from the burning car, as he repeatedly asks her whether there are any other occupants in the vehicle.

The Farmville Police Department said in a press release that the woman was transported to a local hospital and flown by helicopter to VCU/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She is being treated for smoke inhalation. “At this time, her condition is critical, but stable,” it said.
