Woman detained by police in Thailand

Police in Thailand have detained a woman from Merseyside.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) told the Liverpool ECHO that the woman had been held in the Southeast Asian country. The woman's family are being supported and police in Thailand are in contact with the local authorities, the FCDO spokesperson said.

The ECHO understands the woman is from Huyton. The arrest is believed to have taken place over the weekend.

A FCDO spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British woman detained in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities."
