Woman who died in A38 crash was in her 20s

A woman who died following a collision on the A38 was a local woman in her 20s, police have confirmed. Devon and Cornwall Police have issued an appeal for witnesses and information after the fatality.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a road traffic collision on the A38 between Drumbridges and Chudleigh Knighton at 10.40pm on Saturday, May 25. It happened on the southbound carriageway with police later confirming a pedestrian had died.

The A38 was closed in both directions while officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended and carried out a detailed investigation of the scene. The road reopened at around 12.30pm on Sunday, May 26.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances and officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident. A spokesperson said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a road traffic collision on the southbound carriageway of the A38 between Drumbridges and Chudleigh Knighton at 10.40pm on Saturday 25 May.

"Emergency services were called to the scene where one person, a local woman in her 20s, died. Her next of kin have been informed. The A38 was closed in both directions while officers from Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team attended and carried out a detailed investigation of the scene.

"The road was fully reopened at around 12.30pm on Sunday 26 May. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
