Woman dies in crash at Waitrose car park in Newark, another badly injured

A woman has died after being involved in a collision at a supermarket car park in Newark. Emergency services were called to the Waitrose store on Ossington Way on Friday, July 5, shortly after 1.40pm.

The incident involved a car and two pedestrians, and sadly a woman in her sixties was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Another woman was taken to hospital for treatment, but her injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made and Nottinghamshire Police are continuing investigation work at the scene. Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s roads policing and serious collision investigation unit, said: "This was a tragic and distressing incident, and our thoughts are with the victim and her family.

“We are currently working to understand exactly what happened and have already spoken with a number of witnesses. We ask that anyone with additional information or footage from the scene shares it with us soon as possible.”
