A woman escaped from a flat fire in Ealing and crews have said she was “lucky not to be asleep”. London Fire Brigade was called to Curzon Crescent in Park Royal at 11.07pm last night (Thursday, November 28)..

The woman was checked over by paramedics at the scene of the fire. Part of a three-roomed flat was damaged by the blaze and London Fire Brigade has issued a warning on the importance of making sure that you have a working smoke alarm.

This fire was under control by 11.34pm the same night and its cause is under investigation. Leading Firefighter Andy Hastings was at the scene, he said: "The occupant of the flat was lucky not to be asleep when the fire started, as there were no working smoke alarms in the property.

“This fire highlights just how important it is to have working smoke alarms in your home. Smoke alarms give the earliest possible warning when a fire starts and we would urge everyone to make sure they have one fitted in every room where a fire can start except kitchens or bathrooms where heat alarms are more appropriate.”
