A woman hit her head face down on a pavement, after she appeared to be headbutted by a King’s Guard horse.

A video shows the curly-haired woman standing on Whitehall and posing for photos next to the black horse – before the animal nudges her.

She then landed on the pavement, her bag flew away from her and she spent a few moments on the floor as onlookers rushed to her aid.

Two men helped her up – but she had to pause on her knee and was eventually led back onto her feet by a third man.

The King’s Guard is made up of elite serving soldiers who guard Buckingham Palace and St James’s Palace, provide sentries in both day and night and famously change in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. The Changing the Guard takes place at 11am every day in early summer and four times per week at other times of the year.
