A 55-YEAR-OLD woman from Winsford has been handed a court bill of more than £1,000 after assaulting a police officer on Boxing Day.

Patricia Hughes, of Croft Gardens, was charged with assault by beating of an emergency worker, relating to an incident which happened ‘on or about’ December 26, 2022, in Winsford.

Hughes appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on January 20 where she also answered one charge of being drunk and disorderly in Woodford Lane on December 12.

Hughes pleaded guilty to the offences and magistrates fined her £900 and said the offence was aggravated due to the assault being carried out on an emergency worker carrying out their duties.

She must also pay £100 in compensation, plus £120 to the Crown Prosecution Service in court costs.
