Woman in hospital after town centre 'hit-and-run'
A woman has been taken to hospital after a town centre hit-and-run. Now police are appealing for witnesses over the collision in Newcastle.
The force was called out to Hassell Street at around 1.40am on Sunday (October 20). Investigating officers say a black Volkswagen Arteon 'came into collision' with a pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, with the vehicle then leaving the scene.
The casualty suffered 'cuts and bruising' and was taken to hospital. The force says her injuries are not believed to be serious.

A spokeswoman for Staffordshire Police said: "We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, to get in touch."
Witnesses are asked to call the police on 101 and quote incident number 55 of October 20.
