Woman killed in fatal M11 crash that closed motorway for several hours

A crash on the M11 that resulted in the motorway being closed for several hours also resulted in a woman's death. Officers were called to a serious collision on the M11 near Harlow shortly before 12.55pm on Friday afternoon (July 5).

The collision involved two vehicles and officers worked at the scene alongside ambulance and fire service colleagues for a number of hours. The female driver of one of the vehicles, who was in her 60s, died at the scene.

Essex Police said her family have been informed and are being supported. Enquiries into the collision are being led by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

The road has since been reopened to traffic and officers are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward. A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "Anyone with information should contact us as soon as possible.
