Woman kissed inmate while slipping £10,000 worth drugs into his trousers
A woman visiting an inmate in prison kissed him but put £10,000 drugs into his trousers at same time. Nicola Gubb was spotted by guards and arrested.
Mold Crown Court heard she had evaded security to bring in ketamine and cannabis but was detected later during the visit to HMP Berwyn, Wrexham. Gubb, 48, admitted two counts of bringing a prohibited article into a prison.
A judge today heard she was a parent and carer for two children and in those "exceptional circumstances" gave her two nine-month sentences which he suspended for 12 months. You can sign up for all the latest court stories here

Prosecutor Thomas McLoughlin said Gubb travelled from her home on Merseyside on July 17, 2022 to visit a Liam Mooney who was an inmate at HMP Berwyn.
She got through security and a search but was later seen kissing the inmate. Mr McLoughlin said; "She kissed Mr Mooney and passed packages in and around his groin area - seen by staff."
Prison officers searched Mooney and found ketamine and two clingfilm packages of cannabis resin. Mr McLoughlin said the value of drugs in prison is five times their value outside due to "demand and scarcity".
Collectively the drugs were worth between £1,084 and £10,840, he said. Gubb was arrested.
She told police she had been "bullied and scared" by an organised crime group but did not provide names or specific details. Her defence counsel Joshua Gorst said she suffers from "quite profound panic attacks" and is due to see a psychiatrist on November 25.
"She finds it difficult to leave the house and go to unfamiliar areas," he added. But the judge His Honour Rhys Rowlands told Gubb she had left her home on Merseyside to travel to HMP Berwyn in Wrexham.
The drugs had a significant value and she had pleaded guilty at a late stage. But she is the mother and carer for two children and guidelines indicate in those circumstances that he can take the exceptional course of suspending her prison sentence.
One of the sentences is concurrent to the other. Gubb, of Birkin Road, Southdene, Kirkby, must do 20 days of rehabilitation activity. Mooney will be sentenced at a later date.
