Woman lands role on ITV show after ditching her career plans
A 24-year-old woman from Southport is to star in a brand new ITV show after ditching her career plans. Katie, a retail worker, said she has loved fashion for as long as she can remember, but due to societal pressures, she opted to do a degree in neuroscience instead.
But after graduating and starting a career in clinical research, Katie realised her heart wasn’t in it and started sewing instead. Completely self-taught on the sewing machine, Katie is one of 10 contestants who will appear on M&S Dress The Nation on ITV this autumn.
The winner will secure a life-changing design role at M&S, with their own bespoke collection available in select stores. Katie is eager for this opportunity to prove that you don’t need any formal training to make it in the fashion industry.

The new series, fronted by AJ Odudu and Vernon Kay, follows Marks and Spencer's nationwide search for new in-house design talent. Contestants will be set a series of challenges to assess their design, problem-solving, commercial and collaboration skills.
Viewers can also expect to see celebrity judges who are known for their dress sense and flair. Dress the Nation airs this autumn in a six-part series on ITV and ITVX.
