A woman who attacked her former friend and smashed her car with a baseball bat has been jailed. Kayley Bullen entered the Dolphin Inn in Torquay and swung the bat while ranting "You're getting it you little slag."

Exeter Crown Court was told the pair had known each for four years but had fallen out after Bullen had taken her car. The mayhem lasted 20 minutes and the victim was struck three times.

Bullen, 34, has been jailed for 14 months for assault causing actual bodily harm and multiple other offences committed during a spree over the last three years. The court was told she had been leading a chaotic lifestyle and was addicted to heroin.

The assault at the pub happened back in June 2021. Prosecutor Peter Coombe said Bullen armed herself with a metal baseball bat, entered the pub at 7:15pm and assaulted her former friend. She then used it to damage her Honda car.

In February 2023 she was stopped outside Coburg Place in Torquay in possession of a five-inch long blade. She told police she was fleeing domestic violence. In November of last year she was arrested again in possession of a blade after being stopped driving a stolen car in Torquay.

Bullen was sentenced on Wednesday [November 28] for multiple offences, including failing to surrender, possession of a knife and knuckleduster, criminal damage, driving without a licence and insurance and ABH.

The court was told there had been delays resolving all the cases because Bullen had not attended some of the hearings. She was picked up on a warrant by police in Torquay on Tuesday

Herc Ashworth, defending, said Bullen had been unwell and in hospital. She is a woman of previous good character.
