Woman nearly ignores 'spam' email from airline – and it could have gone horribly wrong
A woman who very nearly ignored what she believed was a "spam" email from an airline could have been headed for disaster.
The late night email from the unnamed airline arrived in her inbox and was nearly discarded immediately by the Reddit poster, who told r/CasualUK of her near disastrous flight. She wrote: "Late night email from airline, I nearly deleted it as spam and they are telling me my flights on Tuesday are to a completely different airport and city."
Her near disaster had further details revealed as she says similar problems had happened and there was "nothing to indicate" the email was of any importance.

She added: "I nearly ignored it because everyone sends so many spam advert emails, I nearly missed they moved my flight to a different airport! I would have been waiting a long time to be collected at the wrong place. Why do they do it? Nothing to indicate it’s any different to the 10 other emails I have had trying to upsell me, but a fairly major change with not even ‘important information’ in the title!
"I have had similar from people like Amazon where the order gets cancelled and just thought it’s the rubbish confirmations, but being stuck in a foreign country random airport is fairly significant!" Members of the public have since weighed in on the near miss and told her she may be able to receive some compensation.
One user replying to the thread wrote: "As it's within 14 days of departure you may be able to get compensation. EasyJet changed our return to Manchester 7pm to Liverpool at 1.30am but 30 days before the flight so we're screwed." Other users revealed their own horror stories about being moved from one airport to another.
"They refunded my expenses eventually but refused to offer any support getting to/from London at the time," one frustrated user wrote. "Luckily I had the cash to hand but it's nice to know if I hadn't their plan was 'tough luck pooro'." Another revealed: "This happened to me last year. Ended up at Heathrow instead of Gatwick on a much earlier flight with 4 days notice before departure. Had to bring my work laptop in the car with me as I couldn’t get the time off at such short notice. Very stressful when I was going to be leaving for a month."
