A woman who was allegedly sexually abused as a schoolgirl said teachers overheard classmates mocking her and never asked her what was going on, a court has heard.

The victim said in a video-recorded interview she was called names at school, such as “p***-shagger”, and children would make suggestive gestures at her.

“Not one teacher pulled me to the side and asked me if things were all right,” she said. “I was too scared to go and ask for help but nobody said a word.”

The woman was sexually exploited and “passed around” men until her mid-teens, the prosecution claimed during the trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

The victim claimed she was forced to perform sex acts in a churchyard, raped above a shop on a dirty mattress and violently assaulted when she tried to resist.

The jury was told the abuse started when the victim was 12 years old and took place in Telford, Shropshire.

In the woman’s interview seen by the court, she said she had considered killing herself as she was traded to different men “for months and months”.

Prosecution lawyer Michelle Heeley said the victim was sold for for sex, first by a man named Tanveer Ahmed, who “befriended her” during a low point in her life.

Mr Ahmed is not on trial having been deported to Pakistan for “unrelated offences”, the court heard.

Mohammed Ali Sultan, Amjad Hussain, Shafiq Younas, Nazam Akhtar and Mohammad Rizwan are on trial for differing charges of rape and assault.

Mr Ali Sultan’s lawyer, Anthony Barraclough, said there was evidence suggesting his client was in Pakistan at the time of one of the alleged rapes.

He asked the woman who was giving evidence in court from behind a screen if she had “lied” about it.

“I know what he did,” she said.

The men have denied the charges and the trial is ongoing at Birmingham Crown Court.
