Woman Rescued By Homeless Stranger Raises £11,000 To Thank Him

A woman who publicly praised a homeless man for rescuing her when she got stranded in London has raised thousands of pounds for him.

Nicole Sedgebeer set up a crowdfunding page to raise £8,000 to thank him for his kindness - but donations have now exceeded £11,000.

The man, known only as Mark, became Nicole’s knight in shining armour when she missed her last train from London to Milton Keynes.

Drunk, emotional and alone in a strange city at thee in the morning, the 21-year-old had no idea what to do until Mark stepped in.

Noticing her predicament, the homeless stranger escorted her to an all-night cafe where he sat with her before heading back to his sleeping bag.

However, he promised her that he would return first thing in the morning to take her back to the train station.

Donations: Over £11,000 has so far been raised for Mark (JustGiving)

Despite her scepticism, Nicole was shocked when Mark stuck true to his word, even jumping on bus just to meet her.

She wrote on a Facebook post which quickly went viral: “This man who I probably would of avoided eye contact with if he asked for spare change, completely changed such a negative event into the most eye opening event in my life. Mark you are one special man.”

Nicole set up the JustGiving page to raise money for Mark and other homeless people around Euston.

Stunned by the generosity, Nicole said: “Best birthday gift ever seeing how much people have donated for Mark. Thank you to everyone who’s helped us hit our target. Let’s keep going!”
