Woman Reveals Tattoo to Grandmother Who Unknowingly Designed It

A woman in Victoria, British Columbia, captured the moment she revealed a new tattoo to her grandmother, who unknowingly designed it, in a video captured on February 1.

Megan Kmita had her grandmother write out a phrase she says frequently, then recorded her grandmother’s reaction when she showed her grandmother she’d had the phrase immortalized on her arm.

“She always says ‘Bless your hearts,’ so I got it tattooed on my arm,” Kmita said. “She is such a contagious person full of humor, I had to have it on my arm forever.”

The video shows Kmita’s grandmother confused at first. As she realizes what she’s being shown, she says how much she likes it, and asks how the tattoo artists managed to tattoo her handwriting.

Kmita told Storyful she and her “grandy” have a special bond. Credit: Megan Kmita via Storyful

MEGAN KMITA: OK, one sec.

- Worry about you going down there.

MEGAN KMITA: Look.

- [GASP] [MUTED] What the hell? What are we doing here?

MEGAN KMITA: No. Who's writing is that?

- Oh, that's my writing.

MEGAN KMITA: Isn't that cool?

- [GASP] Oh, is that what you wanted that for? I wondered what you wanted that for.

MEGAN KMITA: Isn't that cute?

- How did she do it--

MEGAN KMITA: "Bless your hearts."

- Or how did they do it in my writing?

MEGAN KMITA: They tattooed it on. They copied your writing, and then they put it on.

- Oh, my god. Oh, because I always say that.

MEGAN KMITA: Isn't that cool?

- I al-- it is cool, even though I'm not a tattoo-- but I don't mind that because I say that all the time.
