A mother-to-be has run an astonishing 5:25 mile while nine months pregnant. Makenna Myler (28) who lives in California but is from Australia, raced around a track four times in a time trial the week before her due date. A video of her run, posted by her husband, has, not surprisingly, gone viral.

Myler’s mile PB is 4:43.31, but when she became pregnant, she told her husband she felt she would still be able to run a seven-minute-mile in the final months of her pregnancy. Her husband decided to make things more interesting, promising her $100 if she could break the eight-minute mark at nine months pregnant. Wisely, Myler took the bet.

Speaking to Buzzfeed after the video was posted, Myler said that during her pregnancy she cut back on her mileage and has been a lot slower. ‘I have been very particular with my strength training to make sure my pelvic shift and added weight doesn’t cause any injury,’ she added. Myler admitted she had felt nervous running as her pregnancy progressed, but after getting the all-clear from two doctors, she continued to train.
