Woman rushed to hospital after being 'pushed down stairs by man'

A woman was rushed to hospital after she was reportedly pushed down a flight of stairs by one man before being hit in the head by another. Officers were called to an address in Anfield just after 4.20pm yesterday (Sunday September 22) to a report of a domestic assault.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment for a laceration to the head. A 60-year-old man from Anfield was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a 41-year-old man from Walton was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent.

In a statement Merseyside Police said: "Officers were called to an address in Anfield just after 4.20pm to a report a woman was reportedly pushed down stairs by one man and struck to the head by a second."

Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “We take every report of domestic abuse extremely seriously. Officers who attended this report have made two swift arrests and the victim is receiving the full support of specialist officers.
