Woman Screams at Venezuelan National Guard Officer Travelling to San Cristobal Protest

Thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of various cities on October 26 to rally against the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

Protesters clashed with local authorities, especially in the cities of Caracas, San Cristobal, Maracaibo and Merida, BBC reported, and photos of injured bodies and large crowds have emerged on social media under the #TomaDeVenezuela (Venezuela Takeover) hashtag.

This footage is described as showing a woman trying to prevent a Venezuelan National Guard (GNB) officer from traveling to one of the protest sites outside the National Electoral Council (Consejo Nacional Electoral) in San Cristobal. Other protesters can also be seen screaming at the guardsman and his peers.

The protests came one day after the opposition-led parliament voted to put Maduro on trial over his suspension of a recall referendum campaign that could oust the leader. Maduo has been accused of violating the constitution by his opponents and has presided over a major economic recession. Credit: Twitter/luzdarydepablos
