A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted on an Arriva bus.

Merseyside Police said the incident happened on the 437 service travelling in the direction of Birkenhead, Wirral, at around 12.10pm on Friday, April 26. The bus stopped at Claughton Village, opposite Birkenhead 6th Form College, when two men got on and sat next to the woman.

It was reported that the men both spoke to the woman before one of them sexually assaulted her.

Other passengers on the bus intervened and notified the driver. The Arriva bus driver stopped the bus and asked them to get off.

Police said the two men got off near Birkenhead Park station. Merseyside Police has now issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to trace as they believe it could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: "This was clearly a very distressing incident for the woman involved. We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he could help with our enquiries and I would urge anyone who recognises him gets in touch."
