Woman shares two-ingredient hack to 'spider-proof' your home in minutes
The presence of spiders in homes has increased recently, as the creatures seek warm spots during their mating season. The 'fen raft spider', known for being the same size as a small rat, is also reportedly making a resurgence across the UK.
This has prompted many people to search for ways to deter these eight-legged visitors. Fortunately, TikTok user Lucy Kalice, who regularly shares life hacks on her page @lucykalice, has offered a simple solution.
In a recent video, she advises: "Spider-proof your house... if you don't like spiders, this one is for you! " Lucy demonstrates how to use a mixture of water and white vinegar, applied with kitchen roll, to wipe down furniture and various areas of the home where spiders may lurk. She explains: "I don't know about you but I am finding spiders everywhere in my house at the moment. So I'm going to show you how to spider-proof your house - you only need two things which I guarantee you already have. White vinegar and water."
She adds that white vinegar is not only effective for repelling spiders but also great for cleaning various surfaces, suggesting a mix ratio of one part vinegar to ten parts water in a spray bottle.
Lucy explained the method, saying: "The vinegar is meant to deter spiders but most importantly it is also a dog-friendly way of doing it," reports the Express. She emphasised that this approach doesn't kill the creatures, but merely discourages them from settling in your home.
Reacting to her video, one viewer commented: "Must try this! " Another added: "They're everywhere aren't they,".
