With temperatures plummeting and snow expected from next week, it's that time of year when drivers are experiencing frequent frost on their windscreens.

If you don't have any de-icer to hand, trying to clear it using your heater alone can be pretty time-consuming - especially if you're in a rush to get somewhere.

One woman has now shown drivers how to defrost their car much quicker - and it doesn't cost an extra penny.

Mum Sara Deutsch shared her useful hack to video sharing platform TikTok and it has since racked up more than 2.9 million views.

Drivers have since taken to the comments to share how 'smart' the advice is and that after so many years of driving, the method was something that they have never known or thought of before.

In the viral video, the mum revealed how simply pulling down your sun visors on each side whilst blasting your heater can help to clear the frost on your car windscreen much faster, reports The Mirror.

During the 30-second clip, Sara explained: "So I do this video every year. If you have a windshield that is frosted over - make sure you put your visors down so that it stops the airflow and it creates a fast defrost on your windshield.

"So, if you ever have a sheet of ice on your car when it's frosted, put this down. Otherwise, you can feel the air just come straight up over it.

"If you put this own it creates a block so that it actually defrosts faster."
