Woman taken to hospital after being hit by car

A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car on a busy city road earlier today (Monday). The collision happened just after 1pm on the A6 Leicester Road near Leicester Racecourse in Oadby.

Leicestershire Police said in a statement that the woman's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening. There was a partial closure of the road following the collision, causing queues on the route into Leicester.

The police statement read: "Police were called at 1.01pm to Leicester Road, Oadby, following a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance and the pedestrian – a woman – has been taken to hospital. Her injuries are not reported to be life-threatening. No other injuries have been reported."
