Woman taken to hospital after collision with car in Leicester

A woman has been taken to hospital after a collision with a car in Leicester. Drivers were urged to avoid the area for several hours following the incident.

Officers from Leicestershire Police were called following the collision at the junction between Saffron Lane and Knighton Lane East at around 9.30am this morning (Thursday, November 14). The incident involved a car and a female pedestrian.

A police spokeswoman said the pedestrian had been taken to hospital. However, the extent of her injuries is not known at this stage.

The collision prompted the closure of Knighton Lane East from the Saffron Lane junction. Traffic tracker Inrix reported that the route was closed up to Whittier Road following the incident and had reopened by around 11.30am on Thursday.
