Woman's bleach hack removes yellow stains from white bed sheets without scrubbing
A woman appealed for help on social media after struggling to remove unsightly stains on her bedding.
Yellow marks can be very common – especially if you have white bedsheets. Typically, these are caused by sweat, body oils, skin care products, saliva, improper washing, and fabric ageing.
Over time, these residues build up, leading to discolouration. And no matter how much you wash your bedding, it can be tricky to budge them.

Thankfully, a cleaning guru revealed her top tip for getting read of the staining. In a video that's amassed more than 416,000 likes, Ann Russell shared an effective solution.
The author of How to Clean Everything responded: "Let's hope you weren't using chlorine bleach. Chlorine bleach won't do much for yellow stains. What you need is oxygen bleach – and lots of it."
Instead, Ann recommends using oxygen bleach to get the job done. This includes products like Vanish or budget alternatives, along with a pretreatment spray or hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle.
Ann instructed: "Get a large bucket or bowl, add half to a full mug of the oxygen bleach powder, and top it up with the hottest water you can get from your tap. For extra heat, add a couple of kettles of boiling water."
Once the water is prepared, she advises adding both the sheet and pillowcase into the solution, stirring them well, and ensuring they’re fully submerged for a day. After around 24 hours, pour the bedding into your washing machine at 60C and rinse with regular detergent.
TikTok users were very grateful for the advice. One user said: "I LOVE that you know this stuff! I had no idea oxygen bleach was the thing to use. BRB gotta go wash a bunch of sheets."
Another commented: "I SWEAR by drying in the sun. Peroxide and sun have saved my white Converse so many times," while a third said: "I love Vanish products, they are more expensive but they have gotten every stain out."
