One car key button could save you so much time in the summer.

As the weather warms up, those of us who drive will be looking forward to rolling our windows down and letting the cool breeze whip through our hair. But rolling down your windows comes with one big problem - you have to remember to roll them up again.

If you have a motor with electric windows, this means remembering to do it before you turn your engine off, or else you're left with the time-consuming task of getting back in your car and turning it on again simply to shut the windows.

But what if we told you there's an easier way?

One woman has gone viral for discovering a little-known button on her car key that can actually shut your windows for you - even when your car is switched off.

Shannon Mitchell posted a video on her @shannon_mitch account over on TikTok in which she said: "Please be honest with me if you knew this was a thing, because I only found out yesterday. I just tried it on my own car and I am flipping shook. My boyfriend seems to think everyone knows this, but I didn't so I'm convinced there's other people that don't know."

The woman went on to set the scene for when this hack might be useful, before showing exactly how it works. All you need to do is click your car's lock button once to lock it, and then press and hold the same button a second time to make the windows roll up by themselves.

She elaborated: "So picture the vibe: it's a nice hot day, you've got your windows down, you're getting out of your car. You turn your car off, you get out of your car, you go to lock your car and then you realise, 'Oh s**t, I've left my windows down! '. [Normally] you'd have to get back in and turn your car on to put your windows back up."

"But no! My boyfriend showed me yesterday that if you double-click the lock button, and on the second [click] hold it down, the windows will go back up. Please tell me I'm not the only person that didn't know about this! ".

Moreover, Shannon revealed that the same trick works with the car's unlock button, which rolls the windows down before you even step in.

The tip stunned viewers of the video, with many expressing surprise that their car key had such functionality. One PERSON commented: "This might change my life." While another said: "This saves me so much time when I'm already sweating! Thank you! ".

It's worth noting that we've tested this hack before and discovered it doesn't work with all car models. For instance, it wasn't successful on a Fiat 500, but it did work on a VW Polo.
