If you've had the misfortune of your bag being stolen, you're familiar with that dread the second you realise it's gone.

Being a victim of theft while on holiday is particularly distressing if it's your purse, passport, or phone snatched, making for a complex and stressful situation. Yet, having something stolen is always an unpleasant experience wherever you are.

However, TikTok sensation Synnøve Årdal has come to the rescue, offering tips via her latest video post on how to carry your bag safely while travelling and apparently, it's not just secure but stylish as well.

Her video came with a caption: "This might be stupid but I always do this if I walk around in a sketchy area. Does everyone do it? Like I think it's so smart".

It should be noted that this tactic is exclusive to double-strapped bags.

In her instructional clip, Ardal explains: "This is the safest way to not get your bag stolen on holiday," followed by the question, "You know you normally carry your bag like that? ", whilst showing a regular over-the-shoulder carrying method.

She suggested, "Instead, do this", demonstrating how to split the straps, wear one diagonally across the body and then loop the remainder over the shoulder, thus fortifying its security.

She points out that while cross body bags are typically used this way, this trick lets you enjoy your beloved high-end bags with less worry.

She confidently declared, "No-one's gonna steal that. They can't! ", attributing the security to the bag being fully wrapped around her torso. She also mentioned: "Nobody's gonna take that and run away with you, it's like stuck to you".

In the comments section, users lauded the clever trick. One impressed woman commented: "It actually looks really good, so clever! " to which Synnve replied, "Yeah it looks good. You kind of get a little belt that makes your waist look smaller too".

Another person chimed in with praise, saying: "That was so smooth". However, not everyone was convinced, as one critic pointed out: "Why does nobody seem to realise that bag thieves can cut straps? ", while another quipped they "Just needed a Chanel now".

A third user humorously remarked: "Laughs in plus size", and yet another added: "Yeah my muffin top won't allow this".
