Woman's simple trick removes 14 years of grime from oven glass
Tackling the oven, particularly the glass door, is far from a preferred chore for many, yet those persistent stains only get more stubborn with time. However, Erin of Lemons Lavender and Laundry offers solace with a straightforward tip, reports the Irish Mirror.
She's shared a clever cleaning hack for vanquishing even the most steadfast baked-on stains. Erin said: "I have to admit, I never really paid attention to the inside of my oven door. I simply ignored the fact that baked-on food had been accumulating for years.
"I had never cleaned it in the five years we lived in our house, and, let's be honest, I'm guessing the previous owners probably didn't clean it often either. This means I could be dealing with 14 years of greasy, grimy, baked-on food."

But before you grab the aggressive cleaners, consider Erin's approach: "While there are lots of tips and tricks on how to clean a glass over door, I love this method because it uses one simple, natural ingredient: baking soda."
Why is sodium bicarbonate such a formidable cleaner, then?
It flaunts a high pH level capable of combating acidic grease and charred remnants, serving as a mild yet stalwart ally in returning your oven door to its gleaming state. Erin said: "While using baking soda takes a little more time and effort than using an oven cleaner, it certainly does the job, and without harmful chemicals."
Begin by generously sprinkling baking soda over the oven glass, then moisten a scour pad and gently rub to create a rich baking soda paste. Erin shared her advice, saying: "The goal is to cover the entire glass oven door with the baking soda paste. If you find you do not have enough paste, simply add more baking soda and water.
"If the paste is thick and clumpy, add more water; if it's thin and runny, add more baking soda." Allow this mixture to sit on the glass door for at least 30 minutes, but for dirtier ovens, an overnight treatment works wonders. Once time is up, dampen the scour pad again and start gently scrubbing in sections, as you'll see the grime peeling off effortlessly.
Finish by using a wet sponge to wipe away any remaining residue from the baking soda mix. Erin tried this cleaning method herself and was delighted to see her oven glass turn into "like a mirror". She was eager to show off her sparkling oven photos online.
She said: "It's like a mirror! I'd say that was one successful cleaning tip!"
