Wombat Flips Out When Pals Ignore Social Distancing

The lack of social distancing at a New South Wales animal sanctuary was too much for one wombat, filmed losing its temper at its meal buddies for getting too close during a feast on March 23.

In this video, shared by the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary, the smallest of a group of wombats can be seen flipping out at its fellow marsupials for failing to keep their distance at mealtime.

“I have to maintain a sense of humour through this all,” a caption accompanying the post reads.

“So………social distancing measures taken in the wombat world by Lady Jane!”

The New South Wales Department of Health recommended a social distancing measure of 1.5 metres between people to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There had been 1,098 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Australia by the morning of 22 March, according to the Department of Health. Credit: Donna Stepan via Storyful
