Wombat Wanders Down Snowy Boardwalk in Wintry Tasmania

An enthusiastic photographer from Tasmania encountered a lone wombat wandering down a snowy boardwalk as he took photos of the wintry countryside on August 4.

Piotr Babis told Soryful he ran 28 kilometres through the snow on the morning in question, and felt the expedition was extra worthwhile when he met the wombat.

“We were waiting for snow at Cradle Mountain for a while,” he told Storyful. “Finally, the forecast suggested decent snowfall and I was ready with my camera in the early morning.”

He added that he headed specifically for Ronny Creek, since it is known for wombat sightings. Credit: Piotr Babis via Storyful
