Women in the Arts exhibit to open Friday

Mar. 27—GRAYSON — National Women's History Month is winding down, but the Grayson Gallery and Art Center isn't done with the celebration.

The gallery will present the 11th annual "Women in the Arts" event from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

The exhibit consists of more than 75 pieces of original art created by women artists across the Tri-State and eastern Kentucky, gallery director Dan Click said. Most pieces will be available for purchase.

Entertainment will be by Karen Combs and the Appalachian Ladies Revue, as well as musical performers $5 Red, which consists of Combs and Jim Rumbaugh; Jesus Phreak Blues, a women's solo act, and Wiley Dew. If there's time, Click said, musicians may even have an open jam near the end of the show. Catering by Laura will provide refreshments; water also will be available.

Awards will be presented and announcements made at 8 p.m.

Awards of $50, along with a blue ribbon for People's Choice, GGAC Board Choice; the Pen Lady award and the Brandon Click Memorial will be given. Click said attendees will be able to vote for People's Choice until 7:30 p.m.

"The gallery board of directors asks and urges visitors to bring family and friends," Click said. "A large crowd is expected to attend and will make for a festive evening."

There is no admission fee, but donations at the door are appreciated, he said.
