A 71-year-old Turkish grandma has claimed that the secret to her youthful good looks is down to kebabs.
Wearing sunscreen, a good skincare regime and eating healthily are often credited for helping to slow the ageing process.
But for Ajda Pekkan, who shot to fame in the 70s, alongside regular workouts, a boob job and anti-ageing spas, her ‘healthy diet’ plays a huge role in maintaining her glamorous looks.
“I am always very careful about what I am eating. I can’t say I limit my choice in food. I like kebab and fish,” she said in an interview with local media.
Ajda who has more than 405,000 followers on Instagram often shares images of herself looking decades younger.
“I’m walking, drinking a lot of water. I cannot think of life without water,” she added.
“Every morning I drink ginger-lemon-honey mixture in a glass of water.
“I never wanted to be a beautiful woman figure. But I always protect my body.
“Genetics and sport are very important to stay in shape.”
Throughout her singing career, which has spanned five decades, Adja, who turns 72 in February has released more than 20 albums. spanning five decades thus far, the 71-year-old has released more than 20 albums with the sales of over 42 million copies worldwide.
She was recently named one of Turkey’s most powerful when she appeared in the The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 list.
And despite her advancing years, Ms Pekkan also revealed she is also now thinking about having a baby telling local media she had already consulted with US and Indian doctors about artificial fertilisation.
Adja isn’t the only woman who seems to be defying the ageing process. Puspa Dewi from Jakarta, Indonesia, is 50 years old – but you’d never guess it as the entrepreneur is often confused for a woman half her age.
With more than 250,000 Instagram followers, the mother-of-two is a firm believer in the health benefits of regular exercise, healthy diet and happiness.
