County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue’s (CDDFRS) fire dog, Woodie, has been putting his sensational sniffing skills to the test as he attempted to sniff out the winner of tonight’s huge Euros clash.

Ahead of tonight's 5pm match, Woodie, and his handler Colin Davis, have been having a bit of fun to see if the spaniel can provide a prediction of the game result.

Colin, a Divisional Manager, and seasoned Firefighter for the Service, tossed three balls for the playful pooch to sniff and catch, marked W for win, D for draw, and L for loss.

Woodie eager to play along, successfully sniffed out and retrieved the ball marked draw.

Only time will tell if this puppy's prediction of a draw comes true!

Colin and CDDFRS are reminding everyone planning on enjoying an alcoholic drink tonight watching the match, to make sure they plan their journey home accordingly. “Even small amounts of alcohol can affect your ability to drive.” He added: “We don’t just want football to come home but for you to get home safely too."

“So, book that taxi, arrange that lift from a friend or switch to soft drinks. Let’s all have a fun yet safe Euros 2024."
