Woolwich shooting leaves man in 20s fighting for his life in hospital

A man is still fighting for his life this morning (June 12) after being shot in Woolwich. Armed officers rushed to Ogilby Street at 10.35pm on Monday, June 10, to reports of gunshots near Granby House.

No victim could be found at the scene, although police were later a told a man in his 20s had attended hospital with a gunshot injury. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene is in place as police continue to hunt for the attacker. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Met.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called at approximately 22:35hrs on Monday, June 10 to reports of a firearm discharge in the vicinity of Granby House, SE18.

"Officers, including armed officers, attended the scene but no victim could be located. Police were subsequently informed that a man, aged in his 20s, had attended a hospital suffering a gunshot injury. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

"A crime scene remain in place at the location. No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD 7941/10Jun."
