WordWeb review

WordWeb enables you to check spelling, look up definitions, get synonyms from a thesaurus, and more. If you're a writer, a student, or someone just learning English, you could find this software absolutely invaluable.

Pros

Offline mode: WordWeb doesn't require an Internet connection in order to provide valuable data.

Audio pronunciations: The free version comes with audio pronunciations for thousands of words. An even broader selection of audio pronunciations is available in the paid upgrade.

Tabbed dictionaries: If you have preferred sources, you can add them into the tabbed browser within WordWeb. This is handy for doing quick lookups from multiple sources with just a few clicks.

Cons

Dated appearance: The only real downside is that WordWeb's interface looks fairly dated.

Bottom Line

If you find yourself looking up definitions regularly, this could be a very useful desktop tool for you. It is customizable, powerful, and flexible, and can offer you even further functionality if you're willing to upgrade from the free to the paid version.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of WordWeb 7.1.
