World's Highest And Longest Glass Bridge Opens In China

The world’s highest and longest bridge has opening in China in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, the mountain range that inspired the epic blockbuster Avatar.

With a 984ft high sheer drop underneath it, the bridge is most definitely not suitable for vertigo-sufferers.

The terrifying structure was designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan and is the latest in a series of stomach-churning attractions in China, drawing tourists from all corners of the globe.

Standing at six metres (19ft8in) wide and with 99 panels of clear glass, this heart-stopping construction can carry up to 600 people at any one time.

Tourists flocked to the site the night before its opening in a bid to be the very first people to walk across the bridge.

Only 8,000 people each day will be allowed to cross the bridge.

In the future, those who can stomach it will be able to bungee jump or zip wire across the bridge.
