'World class' Saltash singer set to host 'amazing' five-hour sing-a-long
A singer whose performance was described as ‘world class’ and ‘breath taking’ by judges is performing at a Barbican pub. The Saltash woman with an amazing voice will sing at a five-hour session raising funds for the local dementia care home where she now works.
Angel Flukes won Germany’s version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ (Das Supertalent) with her rendition of Celine Dion’s Think Twice, in front of a TV audience of around five million in 2016.
The 37-year-old will be singing at The Dolphin pub in Plymouth on November 1 this year, in a fundraising event for Butterfly Lodge care home.

Angel worked abroad as a singer from 2010, returning to Plymouth at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 to care for her dad who was living with dementia, he sadly passed away in 2022.
Earlier this year, Angel took up a role on the activities team at Butterfly Lodge care home which looks after people with dementia. She said: “On Valentine’s Day (2022) the team at Butterfly Lodge invited me to sing for their residents and it was on that day my dad passed away, so the home became extremely special to me.
“When a vacancy arose on their activities team earlier this year I decided to apply and I’m so happy to be working there. I love getting closer to our residents, learning from them about their lives. Some were landlords of pubs, tap dancers, have travelled on safaris, had their own bands too - it’s wonderful. It's great to be part of a team where everyone’s happiness has the same high priority as health and safety.”
Angel started her singing career when she moved to Mallorca aged 21, she was talent-spotted in a German bar in Magaluf by a scout who encouraged her to apply for Das Supertalent. But first, she had to learn to speak German, then in 2016 she became the show’s first female winner since its launch in 2006.
In July (2024), she married her long-time soulmate, Lee Peacock, with whom she shares two children. Angel puts “love and understanding” into her role at Butterfly Lodge - which is run by award-winning care providers Camelot Care.
Clare Sinclair, manager of Butterfly Lodge, said: “Angel’s voice is amazing: the residents love it when she sings for them, and she always has them plus staff and families up and dancing.
“We are so excited about the Singathon. Five hours is a long time for anyone to perform, but Angel is a pro and has a great repertoire, so we know it will be an amazing evening from start to finish, and we’re so grateful to her for doing it as a fundraiser for residents.”
The Singathon is free to attend and will be held at The Dolphin pub on Friday November 1, it will run from 5 - 10pm. The money Angel raises through donations and the sale of raffle tickets will be spent on Christmas activities for care home residents, such as visiting the Eden project, Christmas markets, festive shows and buying them some lovely gifts.
