World Cup 2022 play-off draw: Scotland at home to Ukraine while Wales host Austria
Scotland will host Ukraine in the 2022 World Cup play-off semi finals, with Wales given a home tie against Austria.
Should the two of them win their matches they will face off against each other in Cardiff, with the winner earning a place in Qatar later in the year.
The semi-finals will take place over one leg, as will the final, with all matches scheduled for to be played between 24-29 March.
Scotland have not featured at a World Cup since 1998, while it is 64 years since Wales last made it to football’s biggest tournament.
In the other play-off ties, Italy will host North Macedonia, while Portugal are at home to Turkey.
However, with the winners of those two matches drawn to play each other in a final, it means either the Euro 2020 winners or Cristiano Ronaldo’s side will not be at the Qatar World Cup.
Sweden face Czech Republic while Russia will host Poland, in the other section of the semi-final draw.
