World’s Oldest Wombat Celebrates 30th Birthday By Joining Tinder

Get in line ladies, the world’s oldest wombat is on the market.

And like any eligible bachelor these days, you can find him on Tinder.

Patrick the wombat, although he’s known to his mates as Paddy, lives at the Ballarat Wildlife Park in Australia and is the oldest wombat in captivity.

He is also something of a media darling, with more than 32,000 fans on Facebook.

He turns 30 on Sunday and has decided the time is right for him to find love. So he did what any single male does in the modern world – he downloaded the Tinder app.

Staff at the park signed him up to the dating service as a 30th birthday gift. They also bought him a wheelbarrow, so if he does get lucky he can transport his date to a restaurant of her choice.

Paddy’s relationship status is a result of his behaviour, according to park owner Julia Leonard, who told ABC News: “The male wombat has to be very aggressive towards the female, and Patrick just isn’t a very aggressive wombat.”

She added: “So he chooses to be single.”

She said Paddy, who was rescued from the side of a road in 1986, is interested in someone who can dig a hole and feed him carrots. Good luck with that, Paddy.
