A tech company have invented the world's first customisable smartphone case that can even tell users when they're drunk.

The new ‘modular’ phone case gives users a set of 12 attachments they can add to their phone to boost battery life, tell the temperature and even incorporates a built-in breathalyser.

Nexpaq, the American company that developed the phone cover have begun a Kickstarter campaign for funding for the device - which will be available on both iPhone and Android phones.

Its developers also believe that the device can prolong the life of older mobiles because the add-ons are constantly being upgraded.

Creator Hubertus Wasmer said: 'Every time a new phone is launched, we question the capability of our current models.

'With Nexpaq, we have the ability to expand the lifespan of our phones, switch functions with friends, and finally create a phone that is bespoke to an individual's needs and desires.

'We are really excited to be bringing all these functions to the Kickstarter community, and we can't wait to see what module suggestions they come up with.'
