If you’re not a fan of heights, you may want to look away. The world’s highest infinity pool has just opened in Dubai and it sits at a staggering 293 metres (964ft) above ground.

Located on top of Dubai’s newest skyscraper hotel, Address Beach Resort, the Guinness World record-holding pool sits on the 77th floor and is 94 metres (311ft) long and 16 metres (54ft) wide.

To put its height in perspective, the pool sits at about nine-tenths of the height of the Eiffel Tower and its beachfront location means it offers incredible city views over Dubai.

Mark Kirby of Emaar, the resort's parent company, said in a statement: "We are very honoured to have received this accolade.

“The Guinness World Records titles positions Address Hotels and Resorts at the epitome of luxury and within bucket list destinations for travellers."

As well as its infinity pool - which is restricted to guests over the age of 21 - the hotel has an adults-only pool, a family pool and a kid’s splash pool, but these are located at ground level.

There is also an Asian fusion restaurant, Zeta Seventy Seven, located on the same level as the infinity pool with equally spectacular views.

As well as holding the Guinness World Record for the “highest outdoor infinity pool in a building in the world”, the hotel also holds a second world record for the “highest occupiable skybridge floor” where the two towers that make the hotel and the Address Beach Residences join at 294 metres (965ft) in the air.

Closer to home, London is welcoming a new record-holding pool this month. The “world's largest freestanding acrylic pool structure”, features a clear-bottomed pool hanging 35 metres (115ft) in the air at Embassy Gardens in Nine Elms.

Opening on 19 May, sadly, use of the pool is limited to the 2,000 occupants of the housing complex.
