World's oldest man dies just over a month after 113th birthday
The world’s oldest man has reportedly died just over a month after celebrating his 113th birthday.
Francisco Nunez Olivera passed away on Monday night at his home in the village of Bienvenida in Badajoz, south-west Spain.
According to reports, the village’s mayor confirmed Francisco’s death, describing it as a “shame for the entire village and the whole world.”
Local officials also declared a day of mourning for the 113-year-old, who was also known as ‘Marchena’.
Francisco, whose daughter was his full-time carer, turned 113 in December.
The retired farmer, who is said to have fought in the Rif War between Spain Berber tribes in Spanish Morocco, apparently put his long life down to vegetables he grew himself and a daily glass of red wine.
