A Sutton Coldfield lad who is the worlds youngest author will be awarded The British Citizen Youth Award Medal of Honour. Six-year-old Jayce Joyce made history publishing his first book series at the age of just four, inspiring kids across the country to harness the power of words.

The mini wordsmith stunned everyone when he started noticing and drawing pictures when he was a baby, then began writing about what he'd seen and heard by age three. His school then assessed him to have the reading age of a six-year-old and the writing age of a seven-year-old.

Since then he has published books, led story time at the Library of Birmingham and donated education supplies to disadvantaged children. He will make history again as the youngest of 21 young people across the UK to be awarded with a BCYA medal.

The award recognises the individual endeavours of young people positively impacting their communities, helping charities or undertaking exceptional activities in support of others.

Jayce's mother Anim said: "We are extremely proud, for him to be one of many youths recognised is huge. We as a family support him and he has donated back to school kits to Cameroon due to the crisis happening there.

"He used proceeds from his book sales and also held creative writing workshops in four libraries. This recognition is a testament to his hard work and dedication in making a difference in the lives of several children around the world."

He has published three books which are available on Amazon. One story, A Beach with No Sea, is about exploring the world and making new friends. The second is Jayce's Sweet Tooth about his love for everything sweet, leading to bad teeth and hard lessons.

He also created a diverse educational gift box, 'Jayce's World of Learning' that promotes early literacy and inclusion in children's learning. The child prodigy has visited several nurseries, primary schools, libraries, bookshops, community groups and even care homes in Birmingham.

Driven by his own love for learning, his mantra is: "Think It, Say It, Love It, Write It and Inspire the World!" Jayce will be presented with the BCYA Medal of Honour at The Palace of Westminster on October 17.
