WWE Announces NXT UK Show, Two New Championship Belts

The second UK Tournament is well underway, and after it ends WWE will prepare for the start of a new NXT UK Show. WWE announced today tickets will go on sale for eight live events that will be taped and broadcast for the brand new show, featuring the greatest wrestlers from the UK and Ireland.

“The UK has an amazing talent base and incredibly passionate fans that are deserving of their own showcase,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE Executive Vice President, Talent, Live Events & Creative. “This is the next step in our ongoing strategy to create localized content and further develop our brand globally.”

WWE already has a UK Championship, which was unveiled at the conclusion of the first UK Tournament and is currently held by Pete Dunne. The new NXT UK Show announcement was accompanied by the reveal of a UK Women’s Championship and a UK Tag Team Championship.

Here are the eight dates that will be taped for NXT UK.

Tickets go on sale starting Friday, June 29. The events in Cambridge, Plymouth and Liverpool will be available via LiveNation and tickets for the Birmingham events will be available via the Insomnia Games Festival site.

The second UK Tournament is currently underway, with some of the first-round matches being uploaded to WWE’s official YouTube account. The winner will face Pete Dunne for his UK Championship and kick off the new NXT UK show.

“[The UK division] does fit the NXT brand. It does fit within that overview of NXT and if you are to look at it from a global level, UK, Middle East, Australia, South America, that mold fitting under the guise of that brand works,” Levesque told reporters after NXT Takeover II. “Especially when you consider the overarching, always there, presence of the main roster. It fits this global territory system.”

WWE did not reveal broadcast details for NXT UK, but we expect more information at a later date.
