X Factor 2016: Christian Burrows Brings Nation To Tears With Song About His Late Baby Brother

The X Factor finally returned to our screens last night which means two things: The countdown to Christmas is officially on, and our next few weekends are going to be dominated by sob stories.

However, there was one emotional story that brought the nation to tears yesterday as 19-year-old Christian Burrows from Bolton sang a self-penned song in poignant tribute to his late baby brother, Nathan.

Nathan tragically passed away from cot death when he was just three months old, with Christian being two at the time.

In the moving track he sang about the things that they could have done with lyrics such as: “I would do anything just to be two years old again, imagine what we could have done, imagine what we could have been”, touchingly calling Nathan his “teletubby in the sky”.

Christian admitted that he’d only ever played the song to his parents before, with all four judges being moved to tears as they praised the hopeful.

Simon Cowell said: “It was very brave to share that song with us, because it is so personal.

"I don’t know how you did that, but I think it was important that you did do it actually because it told me who you were as an artist and actually as a person and you’ve got a real talent.

"I think you’re great with lyrics and I like you.”

And it wasn’t just the judges who liked Christian, with viewers taking to Twitter and billing the singer as this year’s winner of the show:

The video of Christian’s audition has since had over two million views on Facebook.
