X Factor's Craig Colton in "horrible" knife attack

Former X Factor contestant Craig Colton has told fans about a "horrible" attack seemingly directed at him and his partner, involving a knife and homophobic rants.

The singer, who rose to fame as a contestant on the show back in 2011, told his Twitter followers of the shocking events at his home.

"After a horrible night, of being attacked with a knife and homophobic rants at our own home, we find out the police can't do anything," he posted last night (April 23).

Craig's partner Shane further explained: "We are not at our home as feel in danger, both very sad and unsettled. Worse experience of our life's! Xx."

"Completely traumatised about this scary & horrific incident that took place in our home at 3am! We have Never felt so in danger," he wrote in another tweet.

Digital Spy has reached out to Craig's representatives for comment.

The pair have since received a flood of supportive messages from friends and celebrities...

Hollyoaks star Duncan James tweeted, "Omg this is terrible !!!", while friend and Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan added, "can't believe this hope you're both okay".

Craig came sixth in the 2011 series of X Factor, proving his talent by covering stars such as Beyonce and Lady Gaga. However, the series was eventually won by Little Mix.
