X Factor fans weren't happy – when are they! – with the four finalists Ayda Field chose during Judges' Houses with Leona Lewis and Adam Lambert over the weekend.

While viewers were mostly content that the actress did pick former Pop Idol contestant Danny Tetley, they were incandescent with fury that she sent home Simon Cowell's favourite Louise Setara, and the perpetually weepy Ricky John. Some fans argued that the two acts were the most talented of the whole series.

However, Ayda ended up selecting Danny, Olatunji Yearwood, Janice Robinson and Giovanni Spano as her four acts ahead of the live shows this weekend,

And finalist Ola has defended his mentor's decision, telling Digital Spy: "I think Ayda knows what she's doing in terms of the live shows, and the talent she's bringing for the shows...

"And it's all up to her at that moment. She's beautiful and she's very bright and she always gives advice."

He continued: "I mean, I did build a nice relationship with Ricky and Lousie – she's a beautiful, pleasant human being, and Ricky is a good one too. It's a competition and that way it goes sometimes."

The 33-year-old Trinidadian soca artist – who garnered local fame when he won Trinidad's famous Soca Groovy Monarch/International Soca Monarch in 2015 – impressed all four judges with his original songs and energetic performances.

Ola revealed that he will be performing another original track on Saturday night, adding: "Fans will see some originality and a lot of movement as well as vocals, the whole package... It's a very catchy song, very fun vibes."
