'X Factor': Emotional Louis Tomlinson secures place for 'friend' in live finals
Emotions soared on X Factor as the judge’s houses part of the competition came to an end. None more so than for Louis Tomlinson as he chose the lucky four from the boy’s category.
Continuing on from last night, Tomlinson saw the final performance come from Brendan Murray. Murray tackled the Prince and Sinéad O’Connor song Nothing Compares to You.
After rising to fame on the show in 2010, the One Direction star had the tables turned. Tomlinson finally felt the guilt at ‘making or breaking’ peoples dreams. He admitted he was feeling “daunted” by the fact the contestants future was in his hands.
As Tomlinson had the unenviable job of revealing who had made it to the next stage, emotions started to run high when it came to giving his friend, Anthony Russell, the news he had won a place.
Russell had previously auditioned for the show last year but had to withdraw due to personal reasons. Tomlinson met Russell during last years show and continued to mentor the Liverpudlian. Both men were overjoyed at the news which resulted in the pair jumping up and down and crying with joy in each other’s arms.

I can’t stop watching this, Anthony’s reaction was so pure & full of happiness. The way he hugged Louis when he said he was going through- he deserves this so much #xfactor pic.twitter.com/hN49TcXM1p

The boys making it to the next stage are Dalton Harris, Armstrong Martins, Brendan Murray and Anthony Russell.
However, some viewers on Twitter were less than thrilled with Tomlinson’s choices, causing disbelief amongst the show’s fanbase.

#XFactor I was defending Louis so much but his relationship with Anthony is just too much. I love Anthony's voice but pushing his story onto everyone is just making the whole thing really unlikable

2006 X Factor winner, Leona Lewis and 2009 American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert joined Ayda Field as guest judges. Both supported Field in making her decision on which overs to take through to the bright lights of the live shows.
Field’s final four to make it are Danny Tetley, Janice Robinson, Giovanni Spano and Olatunji Yearwood.
Last night, Williams and guest judge, Britain’s Got Talent’s David Walliams whittled down the groups to four. Opting to put through LMA Choir, A Star, Vibe 5 and Misunderstood to the live shows.
Williams groups join Cowell’s girls, Shan Smile, Scarlett Lee, Bella Penfold and Molly Scott who he put through last week.
With the judges houses section of the competition completed and the final 12 acts settled, next week, the hopefuls will grace the stage for the first live show.
